The Little Mermaid birthday party
When my daughter turned three she had a Cinderella themed birthday party. You can check it out HERE. There were a lot of people and a LOT of kids. It was a lot of work. For her 4th birthday we decided to keep it small, just our closest friends and family.
Ariel was the princess of choice for her party. We had such a great experience with Cinderella the year before, it was a no brainer to have a special visit from Ariel this time around. I called the same princess company and again booked a two-hour character visit. On the day of the party everything was going great….great until Ariel arrived. As soon as K opened the front door to greet her special guest, things started to go downhill…I guess no one expected Ariel to have both feet and a tail!! (gasp…gulp), including me. I suppose we were all expecting Ariel to arrive in a beautiful green gown. After all, she wasn’t a mermaid anymore she was married to prince Eric!
I must admit, I was a little disappointed when K came to me and whispered in my ear: “Mommy, I don’t think this is the real Ariel.” I didn’t even know what to say. When I made the arrangements, I didn’t even think to ask the lady on the phone “What will Ariel be wearing?”
IT IS WHAT IT IS (sigh)
The whole time the “princess” was there, it didn’t matter how sweet she was to the kids or how beautifully she sang, K kept staring at her feet/tail. I think even Ariel herself noticed that K was “confused” about the feet. On her way out, she told the kids about the “magic seashells” she got from King Triton that allow her to have both feet and a tail. Wait a minute…. WHY DIDN’T YOU SAY THAT WHEN YOU FIRST CAME IN????? (smh)
At the end, we all had a great time…fun times with close friends and family. What’s better than that anyway?
Thanks for reading!
