Best electric toothbrush for kids
Hi guys, hope everyone is having a great weekend! Since my last dental post [How to pick the best electric toothbrush], I have been asked to do a little update and include a few words about “kids’ electric toothbrushes.”
I know a lot of parents can agree that getting our children to brush their teeth can be very difficult, often full of tantrums, tears, or flat-out refusals. That is why, it is very important to make it fun from the start. If we get our kids to enjoy brushing at a young age, they will continue their good oral hygiene habits into their adulthood. When my kids were between the ages of 3 and 4, they were fascinated with anything that buzzed, vibrated, or made any kind of “funny noise.” Around that time, I introduced the electric toothbrush into our daily routine. A little note: children under the age of 8 do not have the manual dexterity to properly brush their teeth on their own, for that reason, I always stress that parents brush their teeth for them. Kids 8+ should be brushing completely on their own and at least twice a day.
So, how do you pick an electric toothbrush for your child? It’s very simple – make sure it has a built-in 2-minute timer and interchangeable brush heads. Both Oral-B and Sonicare have a whole line of kids’ electric toothbrushes with features designed just for them. Having a bight colored toothbrush, or one with their favorite character can increase their compliance and make our life a lot easier! My kids use the Oral-B Pro Health Jr. , however, this toothbrush is a great option as well.
If you prefer Sonicare electric toothbrush for yourself, then I would recommend this Phillips Sonicare toothbrush for your child. Hope that helps!
